WHAT IS IT?

MINI FARMERS is an amazing opportunity to gain behind the scenes access to a bespoke farm which is not open to the general public. Meet our lovely collection of friendly pet animals in a 3 hour unique session where you can find out what it takes to be a farmer. Enjoy learning about, meeting, grooming and feeding a range of amiable animals including horses, ponies, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, alpacas, llamas, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even meerkats and ferrets. Animals can be subject to change, but we will endeavour to ensure you meet a huge variety of our friendly crew and please do let us know in advance if you have a particular favourite. 

LOCATION:

This event takes place on Pages’ Farm. You can find us at:

Pages Farm, Dagger Lane, Elstree, Herts, WD6 3AU

There is free parking in our courtyard.

We will be mainly outdoors in our fields and the session will go ahead rain or shine. We do have indoor areas too where we can completely retreat if the weather becomes too extreme but please be prepared to get down and dirty! That’s part of the fun of the farm.

TIME :

The experience will start at 12.30 promptly on Saturday 19th November.  Please bring a copy of your ticket to gain entry. Any late arrivals may be refused entry as the main gates will be locked for safety whilst the session is in progress. No refunds are available unless the event is cancelled by the farm.

The session will run from 12.30 – 3.30pm which will include a half hour break and a full safety briefing. Staff are fully DBS checked.

PAYMENT:

Money (£50 per child) to be paid in full in advance to :  WildLife Live – (details on request)

Every child must be accompanied by ONE responsible, attentive adult (ONLY ONE accompanying adult per child or family of max 2 children) Participants must be between SIX and 16 years old. No additional younger siblings/ babies to attend and no dogs allowed on the site 

All children must be paid for in full. Adults’ participation is welcomed within the group or you can be photographers from more of a distance… but you must remain on the farm for the whole experience.

Any child or person not abiding by the rules may be asked to leave the session if causing a disruption to others or should their behaviour become a health and safety risk.

Gloves to be worn at all times 

Hand washing facilities available on site and it is your responsibility to ensure they are used!

This event needs a minimum of 4 children to take place and will not have more than 10 participants so it can remain exclusive. This means places will sell out fast.

WHAT TO BRING:

This is an outdoor, hands-on event so please dress appropriately for the weather with warm and waterproof clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toed boots or wellies.  The main farm area is very clean but the fields can get muddy.

There will be a half hour break so please feel free to bring snacks and drinks. We ask that you be aware of possible serious allergies within the group so please DO NOT BRING ANY PRODUCTS CONTAINING NUTS.

Other than that – all that’s needed is yourselves and your sense of fun !

Thanks to our amazing friends at the Imperial Bird Academy - you have the chance to meet, learn about and possibly even hold THREE incredible OWLS…then head off to explore our funfilled, educational, silly WILD OWL TRAIL to find out even more about these amazing birds.

This event takes place in our wild field - to the left of the (free!) car park as you drive in. Look out for the yellow “banana car”. This is an outdoor event and the ground can be uneven or prickly so we do recommend that you wear closed toed shoes and either suncream or waterproofs or both !!

These events are suitable for all ages but we recommend 2+ years for most enjoyment.

Tickets are £8 per child & £2 per adult with a family ticket for 4 people of any age for £20 . Babies under 1 year old are free but all children must be accompanied by an adult . This event is aimed at Over 2s but can be enjoyed by all. We are also running special WILD STORIES that morning as part of LITTLE TOTS & ICE CREAM POTS at Lewis of London at 10.15 and 11am but 11am is now SOLD OUT.

Don’t forget- we have regular groups for Under 5s- FARM STORIES at Aldenham Country Park Farm on Mondays and Wednesdays 10.30am and 1.15pm

MEET THE FASTEST ANIMAL ON EARTH !

You may have seen them from a distance - but now get close up and personal with some insanely remarkable British birds.

Come face to beak with a peregrine falcon and watch a kestrel in action- hovering, soaring and mastering the skies in a 20 minute presentation. And even have your photos taken with these SUPER SWOOPERS !

We will go ahead rain or shine* and although there is some shelter available - the way summer went ( where did it go?!) - we do advise you to dress appropriately for the weather and strongly recommend closed toed shoes as the ground in the field can be quite prickly and uneven.

*if the weather is extreme - exceptionally windy or a horrendous downpour - the kestrels may not be able to fly but then you will have more close up and prospective handling time ( under shelter) with them instead!

We're so excited to bring you our day of FERRETY FUN. So hold onto your trousers and get ready to meet our cheeky, mischievous, furry friends thanks to our pals at Bucks Goat Centre . We're going dispel the myths about them being smelly or having to wear a flat cap to handle them. Instead we'll show you how cute and how incredible they are and we'll pit children v adults and human against ferret to find out your level of Ferrety Fitness.

But don't worry - there'll be loads of time for cuddles too ( with Gizmo, Astrid and Freya - more than us!)

Ever feel misunderstood? Unappreciated ? Well why not do something different this half term and meet some animals who feel the same?

Ranger Stu is bringing a menagerie of misfits.....gorgeous animals who some say -only their mommas can love. But we want to show you that they're all actually amazing and really cute in their own special ways.
We can't guarantee that you'll see all of them as some will rest each session but the menagerie includes a beautiful boa constrictor, the most intelligent rats, the sweetest (smelling) skunk and a really friendly spider....and we want you to leave best of friends with all of them.
